This neighbor of ours is one of the first states to create a very tough law aimed at punishing employers of illegal aliens. The law is having an effect on the local economy and it is having an effect on Mexico.
Some of the folks who have found themselves suddenly unemployed have decided to go back to Mexico, and they have taken their families with them. You will never believe the rest of this story.
Nine state legislators from the state of Sonora, Mexico, actually came on an official visit to Arizona to complain and protest about the impacts to their community of all these people coming back home.
The complaint stems from the impacts to schools, housing and jobs. Sound familiar? The state of Sonora is also asking the federal government of Mexico for help with the situation.
Maybe Mexico will chip in to help construct the border fence? Of course, they would do it to prevent their own citizens from returning. Now I am not so sure we want a fence.
